Big changes coming to 26th Street. A developer wants to demolish a low-rise office complex at 1655 26th Street and replace it with an eight-story, 401-unit apartment building near the Water Garden. The project by 1655 Property LLC includes ground-floor retail, 419 parking spaces, and 41 affordable units for moderate-, low-, and very low-income households. Designed by AC Martin, the contemporary podium-style building features a central courtyard, rooftop deck, and a mix of studios, one-beds, and two-beds. Plans are now under review by Santa Monica planning staff.
A major new housing project is coming to downtown San Pedro. High Street Residential and Haseko North America have filed plans for an eight-story, 281-unit apartment complex at 155 West 6th Street. The design by KFA Architecture features a podium structure with internal courtyards carved into the upper floors, bringing natural light deep into the building while keeping the scale in check.
