Chaired by award-winning chefs Brooke Williamson, Mei Lin, and Melissa King, this unmatched culinary experience supports No Kid Hungry’s mission to end childhood hunger
Los Angeles – For one night only, two of the city’s most celebrated culinary events for a cause, Los Angeles’ Taste of the Nation and the No Kid Hungry Dinner, are joining forces to create a new, unforgettable experience: Night Out for No Kid Hungry! This culinary extravaganza will take place on Saturday, April 11th, at Rolling Greens in Downtown Los Angeles. The event brings together over 50 of the best chefs, restaurateurs, tastemakers, and mixologists from around the country to serve guests scrumptious bites, craft cocktails, and delectable desserts all in support of No Kid Hungry, a national campaign to end childhood hunger in America. The highly decorated tastemakers in attendance include Netflix’s BBQ Showdown Judge and James Beard Pitmaster Kevin Bludso, Master Chef Ludo Lefebvre, Michelin Star restaurants such as Osteria Mozza and Kali Restaurant, and multiple James Beard Award winners and finalists.
This year’s ultimate foodie experience was crafted in part by award-winning chefs Brooke Williamson, Executive Chef and Owner of Playa Provisions; Mei Lin, Chef and Founder Umamei; and Melissa King, Chef and author of Cook Like a King and winner of Top Chef All-Stars: Los Angeles. They have worked together with the Night Out team to bring every cuisine and style of cooking to this event in either the form of a bite-sized wonder or a tasty dinner course. Guests have the option to choose between two styles of savoring by attending either The Tasting, a lively sampling event similar to the beloved Taste of the Nation event, or The Dinner, an intimate, multi-course sit-down experience.
At The Tasting, guests will indulge in culinary creations and expertly crafted cocktails from top culinary talents, including award-winning chefs, celebrated restaurants, and innovative mixologists. The bites will range from Jitlada’s bold-flavored southern Thai cuisine to Heritage Barbecue’s classic backyard, Texas style BBQ dishes.
Guests attending The Dinner will experience a one-time-only multi-course meal curated by the best California has to offer. Award-winning Los Angeles chefs will pair up with guest chefs to bring delectable dishes to attendees, such as Dominique Crenn, one of the world’s most acclaimed chefs, and Michael Mina, highly decorated Michelin-starred chef, to name just a few. While enjoying their exquisite meal, attendees will learn more about the No Kid Hungry campaign and compete in a live auction to help raise critical funds to support their mission in ending childhood hunger. Guests who choose to attend The Dinner will also be able to enter The Tasting event 90 minutes early to try some of the flavorful samples before the multi-course dinner presentation.
The night will conclude for all guests at The After Party hosted by chefs Duff Goldman and Michael Voltaggio. This will cap off the event experience with sweet treats from the city’s top pastry chefs, late night bites, and a special live performance. One such pastry chef cooking up a delicious dessert for The After Party will be Chef Fatima Juarez from Komal, which was named one of the 15 best restaurants in
America in 2025 by EATER. No matter which experience guests choose, they'll be tasting the best America has to offer, all the while helping ensure children across the state and country have access to the food they need to thrive.
When asked why No Kid Hungry’s efforts to end childhood hunger are so vital, Los Angeles event co chair and featured chef Mei Lin shared:
“Childhood hunger is a problem that affects all of us. No Kid Hungry is working to solve this problem and has made a positive impact on the lives of millions of kids. I’m proud to be a part of Los Angeles’s Night Out event to help No Kid Hungry end childhood hunger.”
In addition to the delicious food and drinks, there is entertainment to round out the evening experience, such as music by DJ Super Nova and interactive games, like The Shop and The Cellar. Guests can browse The Shop to purchase a mystery box featuring a unique prize valued at or above their donation, or they can explore The Cellar, where they can purchase a key for a chance to unlock our cellar door— the winning key reveals a fully stocked wine cellar. This event is a great way to get your friends or family members together to enjoy some exceptional food, all while supporting a great cause.
No Kid Hungry’s Managing Director of Culinary Partnerships & Events, Courtney Smith, stated that the Night Out event is so important because:
“One in five kids in the US is living with hunger. No Kid Hungry works tirelessly every day to make sure every child gets three meals a day by advocating for programs and helping communities get the resources they need to feed children. Whether you’re joining us at The Tasting or The Dinner, your ticket to Los Angeles’s Night Out for No Kid Hungry raises funds for this work. We welcome guests from across Los Angeles to come hungry and ready for an evening full of flavorful food, libations, and fun. And while you’re here, don’t forget to raise a glass in support of No Kid Hungry!”
